Added: January 20th, 2010:
A multitude of events will be held during the 2010 Boy
Scout 100 Years Of Scouting Camporee. Scouts will perform
skills and compete in events that occurred during the first
Camp-o-ree’s of the day back in 1910.
Bonnie Cary Naturalist with Volusia County’s
Land Acquisition and Land Management Division will be
inviting her colleagues and the public to attend the
Camporee and to participate in the events that each unit
will be presenting.
Tuscarora District scouts will be also be competing in
the events for ribbon placement first through third. As
with most Camporee the troops SPL or assigns will be
on staff and receive a staff T-shirt.
There will be a gateway judging contest,
with the potential that the winning gateway will be transported
to a selected trailhead of a Volusia County trail in
the area, to be permanently erected. (Keep that in mind
during the design and construction)
Minimal digging in your campsite, for gateways
is permitted with the assurance that all holes will be
completely and compactly filled in upon dismissal. The
area is used for horses, and although we have been given
permission for minimal digging, we must insure the safety
of the riders and their horses. |
